Lay me down for I've grown weary my eye sight it grows bleary, and I'm ready now for Life's Winter to cover me. Lay me down for I have had my adventures, I've skinned my knees on Life's byways. I've explored and dared I've had my spring, Now Lay me down. In the Summer of my youth, I taught my children what I knew, and I saw the world once again through eyes new. But now, one day is very much the same as the day that came before. And I'm ready so Lay me down. In the Autumn of my life when I lost much that I loved, and I searched my soul for answers left from Angels above, I heard my name in the rustle of the leaves, and I knew my time had come. Lay me down, for my time has been spent. Will I be remembered? Or forgotten like the drifting snow? I've only been a raindrop in the Ocean of life, will I be remembered? That's not for me to know. But lay me down let my mind wander back through the years, let me hear the laughter, once again taste the tears. Let me have my dignity, as I go into God's embrace. Let me meet Him with a smile on my face. And if you'll not remember me, then I'll settle for remembering you. Lay me down with the angel's for my seasons are through.
