This is a Malay recipe usually served with hot, corned beef. (We like it with curry.)
Ingredients:
1 large cup rice 2 ounces seeded raisins
4 ozs. sugar 4 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 dessertspoon turmeric
1 oz. butter
Method:
Bring water to boil. Add all ingredients except raisins. Boil rice for about 15 minutes, then add the raisins. Mix well with a fork. Simmer till rice is cooked. Strain off excess liquid, leave in colander over boiling water until required.
