The following happened to me while I was a student at Art School in Johannesburg, back in the '60s. (I know, that is a long time ago.)
We had a teacher for a subject called 'Nature Study' called Mrs.Von S. As the name denotes, she was German. She was a dumpy lady with dark, greying hair pulled back severely from her face, into a bun. She also spoke with a heavily accented voice. She was very demanding and abrupt!
We had a guy in our class named Mike, now Mike and Mrs. Von S. did not see eye to eye on many occasions. Mike was tall, slender, with very light blonde hair, with the strangest eyes I have ever encountered. I can't tell you what colour they were, all I know is that they looked like two black holes, like they could see into your very soul! (He scared me a bit from the beginning)
One day in class, Mrs. Von S. was doing her rounds of the desks, seeing how her students were coping with the project she had set us. She stopped at a few desks to give advice or correct a few matters. When she got to Mike's desk, she went into a tirade, shouting at him and ripping has charcoal drawing from his desk. We all watched as she took a clean sheet of paper and showed Mike what she wanted done. Mike, without a word, took her drawing and slipped it under his own drawing. (After she had turned away, of course)
When Mrs. Von S. did her next round, Mike, watching her carefully, slipped her drawing back onto the top, pretending to be working on it. Of course, the whole class was looking to see what would happen! To our amazement, Mrs. Von S. once more, verbally attacked Mike! Now as you have surely realised, this was her own work that she was criticising. We were all aghast at this behaviour!! This time, she refrained from demonstrating HER skills. As she turned away, Mike said softly, "I hope she dies in her bed tonight!"
Next morning, Mr.P., our headmaster, came to tell us that Mrs. Von S. would not be taking our class, as she had passed away during the night. As one man, we all turned to look at Mike. He did not even register surprise on his face! (Nor guilt, for that matter)
Later in the year, I believe Mike had an altercation with another student, who was hit by a car outside the school, but that is partly here say.
Needless to say, we all were very careful how we treated Mike, after that. We all went around saying “Don’t mess with Mike”.
Humm..... yes, I was never able to work out if Mike actually did have "powers" or if it was just a huge coincidence. He was one of the creepiest individuals that I have ever met. The calm look on his face, when we received the news of Mrs Von S' death, I think, sent shivers through the whole class.
